The 1990s were a challenging period for Jeff Koons. His renowned “Celebration” series, including works like Balloon Dog, faced significant technical and financial hurdles due to his perfection. During this time, Koons also experienced personal turmoil, notably the custody battle following his divorce from Cicciolina. Exhausted by this situation, Koons began a new series, the “Easyfun” series (1999-2000), which returned to a playful, childlike simplicity. For example, Loopy (left), which combines rabbits, whipped cream, and cherries, expresses the wonder and visual enjoyment of childhood, and Cut Out (center), inspired by cutouts found in amusement parks, conveys that you can become whoever you want to be, while exploding cereal and sunny skies create an optimistic atmosphere. In the summer of 2000, three print works from the “Easy Fun” series, 1. Loopy / 2. Cut Out / 3. Hair were released. Initially planned as editions of 1000, fewer than 300 prints of these works were ultimately produced.
