The 71st SBI Art Auction | LIVE STREAM AUCTION

SBI Art Auction is pleased to announce “The 71st SBI Art Auction | LIVE STREAM AUCTION”, to be held on Friday, April 11, and Saturday, April 12, 2025. This live-streamed auction will present a curated selection of over 490 exceptional works, bringing together masterpieces by established and emerging artists.

As April unfolds and spring’s hues deepen, this auction offers a vibrant collection of artworks spanning generations. Among the highlights is Henri MATISSE’s renowned Jazz series, featuring 16 pochoirs print. Known as the "master of color," MATISSE expresses a sense of movement and rhythm through his dynamic palette and bold, organic forms, captivating viewers with his signature vitality. Another highly anticipated work is KUSAMA Yayoi’s Mt. Fuji in Seven Colours - Mt. Fuji, I love (Kusama 399). The bold red depiction of Mt. Fuji symbolizes strength, while the vivid blue background further enhances the composition’s vibrancy.

Among the sought-after contemporary artists, ROKKAKU Ayako’s Untitled enchants with its lively depiction of a young girl striding gracefully across a cardboard canvas. Similarly, NAGAI Hiroshi’s tranquil landscapes—characterized by a harmonious blend of blue tones, modern architecture, lush greenery, and a glistening pool—transport viewers to a world of serene clarity. Following his remarkable performance in last September’s live auction, NAGAI’s works are once again expected to attract attention.

This auction will also mark the debut of YAMAMOTO Hiroki at SBI Art Auction with Remains of the day. Known for his meticulous realism and atmospheric depth, YAMAMOTO’s piece presents a striking balance between stillness and emotional resonance. Also featured are works by NAKAZONO Koji, a promising artist whose life was cut short at a young age. Over the course of his brief yet impactful career, he created approximately 500 artworks. This sale will present one of his poignant oil pastel pieces from his later years. Powerful pieces by KOMATSU Miwa—radiating mystical energy—and KYNE, renowned for his stylized depiction of sophisticated women, will also be included in the lineup.

From overseas, Swiss contemporary artist Andy DENZLER’s Waterfall Crossing will be featured. Known for his “Motion Paintings,” DENZLER employs thick layers of oil paint and horizontal striations to create a compelling interplay between distortion and fluidity. His evocative, blurred imagery invites viewers into a dreamlike and cinematic narrative.

Additionally, MATSUYAMA Tomokazu—a Japanese artist currently based in New York—will be featured with Spotlight Seduction. As his first major solo exhibition in Tokyo is on view, and his works continue to gain prominence both in Japan and globally.

This LIVE STREAM AUCTION offers collectors and art enthusiasts the opportunity to participate seamlessly from anywhere in the world. As the season of renewal begins, we invite you to explore and acquire remarkable works that will enrich both your collection and your living space.
