Revision of Conditions of Auction

In conjunction with the commencement of the qualified invoice system, a new system introduced to Japan's Consumption Tax (JCT) regime effective from October 1, 2023, our Conditions of Auction has been revised accordingly.
The revised Conditions of Auction will be applied from the MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ART auction held on October 27-28, 2023.

SBI Art Auction is pleased to present the "61st SBI Art Auction｜MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ART" on Friday, October 27 and Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Daikanyama Hillside Forum.
In our final sale of 2023, we are proud to introduce numerous outstanding pieces by esteemed international artists. Featured works include a set of two lithographs by David HOCKNEY, currently showcasing a major solo exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, original paintings by KAWS, and silkscreen prints by Jean-Michel BASQUIAT and Andy WARHOL. WARHOL's pieces, in particular, are a must-see, displaying iconic images that represent post-war American consumer society and popular culture, including Donald Duck and Marilyn Monroe.
For domestic artists, the sale will include KUSAMA Yayoi's 1993 canvas piece "Pumpkin" and the avant-garde work by KANAYAMA Akira that graces the cover of our sale catalogue, along with pieces from artists who are gaining significant attention in the market.

Renowned Artists from Both Domestic and International Scenes Gather: Don't Miss the Early Autumn Live-Streamed Auction!

SBI Art Auction is pleased to present the "60th SBI Art Auction｜LIVE STREAM AUCTION" on Friday, September 15 and Saturday, September 16, 2023.

In this sale, we bring together works by renowned artists from both domestic and international scenes, including "Woman in Burnt Sienna" by Swiss painter Andy DENZLER. DENZLER is known for his multi-layered depictions of figures that straddle the line between Abstract Expressionism and Photorealism. Rendered with expressive brushwork, his compositions are reminiscent of Baroque-era classical paintings translated into modern times. Additionally, works by leading figures in Japanese contemporary art, such as "Untitled" by KYNE and "Sound of the vanishing evil" by KOMATSU Miwa, will be on display. Other highlights include "Snip Girl 1" by SATOH Naritaka, an oil painting by EGAMI Etsu, and a beautifully grained sculpture of COMPANION, the iconic character by KAWS.

Remarkable artworks by renowned artists to be auctioned in Tokyo

SBI Art Auction is pleased to present the “59th SBI Art Auction｜MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ART" on Friday, July 14 and Saturday, July 15, 2023.
The sale will feature an acrylic painting by KUSAMA Yayoi "Pumpkin" and a wood sculpture by KATO Izumi representing primitive life forms, as well as works by artists who have attracted attention in the domestic and international markets, including NARA Yoshitomo, KYNE, IDA Yukimasa, IMAZU Kei, etc.
From Japanese postwar art, which it showed strong popularity at our latest sale in May, fine works by IMAI Toshimitsu and DOMOTO Hisao will be presented in our lineup. Many works by leading artists from the postwar art of the 1950s to cutting-edge ultra-contemporary art scene will also be featured.
A rare screen print work by Andy WARHOL with Mickey Mouse motif which symbolizes American culture, and Keith Haring's treasured surfboard, which the artist had painted for current owner during his first visit to Japan in 1983 will be on display.Other works, such as Robert Wilson's "Chair for Marin," which won the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale in 1993, will be introduced for the first time.
