SBI Art Auction is pleased to present the "61st SBI Art Auction|MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ART" on Friday, October 27 and Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Daikanyama Hillside Forum.
In our final sale of 2023, we are proud to introduce numerous outstanding pieces by esteemed international artists. Featured works include a set of two lithographs by David HOCKNEY, currently showcasing a major solo exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, original paintings by KAWS, and silkscreen prints by Jean-Michel BASQUIAT and Andy WARHOL. WARHOL's pieces, in particular, are a must-see, displaying iconic images that represent post-war American consumer society and popular culture, including Donald Duck and Marilyn Monroe.
For domestic artists, the sale will include KUSAMA Yayoi's 1993 canvas piece "Pumpkin" and the avant-garde work by KANAYAMA Akira that graces the cover of our sale catalogue, along with pieces from artists who are gaining significant attention in the market.

The current auction participants include nationals of more than 60 countries*, and we are proud of being Japan's most international auction, since bids by overseas customers amount to about 30% of the title.
We are working to grow and expand the Japanese art market by actively introducing not only the works of artists who symbolize the Japanese art market, but also the works of overseas artists who are rarely exhibited in domestic auctions.
